Our customers can already note the date of the ARL seminar in their calendars for 2017. It will last from 3 March 2017 to 4 March 2017. Congratulations on the 70th Anniversary

Well-organized celebration by the round table on the occasion of the 70th anniversary of foundation of SPU library took place in grounds of SPU library in Nitra. It was organized in the spirit of balancing, and importance of academic libraries was highlited there, with mentioning SPU library as a shining example. The rector of the university also apraised that, and he granted a special award to the library. We also appreciate the library, especially its selflessness and enthusiasm of employees, and we gladly support the library as well.

Another libraries in MARC21

Data conversion from UNIMARC to MARC21 in another two libraries is being finished in these days. It is Library of Karel Dvoracek in Vyskov and Museum of Czech Literature. Librarians in cataloguing department are trained to work in MARC21 as a part of the conversion process.

Updates of hosting servers

Updates of hosting servers ARL were completed this month. Updates included virtualizations, upgrades of VMware, ESX2, Apache Web Server, Windows Server 2008 Enterprise, and others. As a result, the servers usage was distributed evenly. Day peak fell from 30% to 15%, night (backups) from 99% to 88% (the length of night backup is three times shorter now).

We have completed development of module NCIP server. This module enables connecting aRL libraries to CPK web portal. It provides information about aRL user accounts, free holdings availability and documents reservation.
